Adding fibers to precast concrete may allow for complete replacement of traditional steel in a wide variety of applications. From septic tanks and burial vaults to Jersey barriers and sound attenuation panels, fibers have been successfully used to replace steel reinforcement. Since the fibers are integral to the concrete and uniformly distributed, the concrete elements have increased crack resistance and durability while production speeds increase.
