Brighton Park Transfer Station
Flood Brothers Disposal wanted to improve the impact resistance and fatigue life of their slabs. The garbage dumping on the slab and garbage movement by front-end loaders, they needed to have a way to minimize the inevitable deterioration of the slab due to the harsh use of the slab.
FullForce’s Applications Engineer assisted Ozinga Ready Mix in designing a workable mix with the high dosages of FiberForce 750. In addition, the FullForce Technical Sales Manager worked with Raffin Construction on techniques for finishing high dosage fiber reinforced concrete. The modifications made by both the Applications Engineer and Technical Sales Manager resulted in a slab that has no fiber exposure on the surface.

“I walked this slab with the concrete contractor, Raffin Construction Co. and Rich Gardner, our Technical Sales Manager. As we inspected slab on grade portions of the project, the surface was smooth with minimal evidence of fibers sticking above the surface. A real credit to the skill of the concrete contractors on the job. When you team up with the right concrete contractor, ready mix producer and our elite engineering group, you can make a difficult project turn into a showpiece like this one. Excited to work with them on the next project.”

“I wanted to express my gratitude for all of the assistance, technical and otherwise, that FullForce provided us on our Waste Transfer Station project here in Chicago. From the preliminary budgeting all the way through dialing in the mix design and every step in-between, your team has allowed us to provide a longer lasting floor slab to the owner. Typically, when fibers are proposed on a project, a host of boxes must be checked. There are many parties involved, and they all have their own sets of criteria that the fibers must satisfy. Owners need to know how economical the fibers are, engineers often have multiple structural aspects that the fibers must satisfy, architects have aesthetic standards to consider, ready mix suppliers need to know how the fiber will interact with their mix designs, and finally the finishers and laborers installing the fiber reinforced concrete need to know how the concrete will behave during placing and finishing operations. Your team at FullForce has provided us with expertise from industry professionals through all phases of this project and, ultimately, has allowed us to provide the best product possible to our client.”
