FiberForce 300 was used to provide temperature-shrinkage and post crack protection in lieu of traditional steel reinforcement. Fiber was in the specs for the topping over precast. We worked with Van Smith and EOR to determine what fiber technology would be best to attain desired results. The fibrillated synthetic microfiber provided many advantages over traditional steel reinforcement including impact and abrasion resistance, placement throughout the slab matrix, and superior corrosion resistance over steel. These are all key elements to consider in this high traffic loading and staging area around the ship to shore cranes.
